ACOUSTIC NEUROMA

Clinical History

The specimen was obtained at post mortem from a man of 51 who gave a history of headache, vertigo, deafness and tinnitus in the right ear and died following pulmonary embolism.

Pathology

The brain displays a lobulated tumour 3 cm diameter in the right cerebellar-pontine angle. This is an example of an acoustic neuroma.
