CHONDROSARCOMA OF PELVIS

CHONDROSARCOMA OF PELVIS

Clinical History

A 45 year old woman with a 2 year history of hip pain and swelling was found to have this tumour on x-ray. At the time of diagnosis there were metastatic lesions in the lungs and she died 8 months later. The prognosis of these tumours depends much on the histological grade of the tumour. Grade I tumours have a 90% 5 year survival and rarely metastasize and grade III have 43% 5 year survival and 70% of these metastasize.
