FIBROADENOMA OF BREAST

FIBROADENOMA OF BREAST

Clinical History

A 26 year old female who had read an article on self examination presented to her local doctor with a breast lump. The mass was removed at operation.

Pathology

The specimen consists of a portion of skin and subcutaneous tissue beneath which is an encapsulated tumour 7.5 cm in diameter, which has been bisected and mounted to display the external cut surface. The external surface is slightly nodular while the cut surface is pale brown with whorls of white fibrous tissue. Histological examination shows this tumour to be a fibroadenoma of the breast.
