BENIGN CYSTIC TERATOMA OF OVARY

BENIGN CYSTIC TERATOMA OF OVARY

Clinical History

The specimen was removed at operation from a woman of 39 who complained of backache and irregular menstrual bleeding.

Pathology

The ovarian mass displays a cystic cavity 3.5 cm in diameter in which sebaceous material, hair and a recognisable tooth are present. This is an example of a benign teratoma of the ovary.
