CYST OF BROAD LIGAMENT

Clinical History

This was an incidental finding at laparotomy in a woman of 24 who was suffering from acute appendicitis.

Pathology

The specimen is a thin-walled cyst, 9 cm in maximum diameter. Running over the cyst is an attenuated fallopian tube with the fimbriae situated superiorly. Posteriorly is the pedicle, 7 cm in length, by which the cyst was attached to the broad ligament. The cyst contains clear pale yellow fluid.
