ADENOLYMPHOMA OF PAROTID GLAND

ADENOLYMPHOMA OF PAROTID GLAND

Clinical History

A 62 year old man developed a lump on the side of the face over 12 months. Examination revealed a lump anterior to the left ear, not attached to skin but fixed to underlying tissues.

Pathology

This ovoid encapsulated tumour has been mounted to display cut and external surfaces. The cut surface shows yellow friable material with small cystic spaces. The external surface is lobulated and there is a thin capsule. Histologically the lesion has the papillary-acinar pattern and lymphoid tissue typical of an adenolymphoma (Warthin's tumour).
