HYATID CYST-SPLEEN

Clinical History

Incidental finding in the spleen of a farmer killed in a tractor accident.

Pathology

The specimen consists of spleen and an attached hydatid cyst measuring 11 x 8 x 5.5 cm. The cyst is lying close to the hilum of the spleen in the region of the pancreatic bed. It is thick walled and has been opened to display numerous daughter cysts within.
