HYDATID DISEASE OF THE SPLEEN

Clinical History

A 40 year old farmer was noted on abdominal examination to have an irregularly enlarged liver.

Pathology

This is a small section of spleen. In the subcapsular region there is a unilocular cyst measuring 2 cm in diameter. The cyst is filled with cheesy white-cream material. Histologically it proved to be a hydatid cyst.
