ACUTE MYELOID LEUKAEMIA

ACUTE MYELOID LEUKAEMIA

Clinical History

A 29 year old woman was unwell over the previous 7 weeks and suffered from menorrhagia, epistaxis and a tendency to bruise easily. Death occurred rapidly.

Pathology

The right femur, vertebrae and sternum are sawn to display the medullary cavity which is extensively infiltrated by greyish green material. Histological study revealed numbers of immature cells of the myeloid series. This is an acute myeloid leukaemia.
